Help with Flu Vaccination!?

a)Why is the flu shot recommended for older adults than for younger ones?
b) How is the vaccine intended to protect people from the flu?
c) Why do some people who receive the flu shot actually get the flu from it?
d) Why is a new vaccination needed each year?

thanks guys these really helped!!!!!

This vaccine is the biggest money making scam. Check out this link:

It makes you think twice about the flu shot. I think that the vaccine actually makes the immune system weaker. This vaccine has mercury in it. For those under 3, it is "mercury free"- still has trace amounts. For those 3 and older, there is mercury. At 3, they give an adult vaccine at a smaller dose. You are not supposed to get the flu from a vaccine because the virus is "dead". But viruses mutate, so the chances that anyone would get the exact strand that the vaccines carry is very low. They also "predict" the next virus based on the virus from the year before. So it is not suprising that the flu vaccine does not work. Vaccination is needed every year so that the governement and the pharmaceutical companies can bank lots of money by making so many people think that they need them. When I see the flu shot sign at a GROCERY store (isn't that a little strange to anyone) I get really mad. I will not be getting this vaccine ever, or allowing my children to get it either!

a) Older adults have more health problems and weaker immune systems than the younger population. That is why people who have compromised immune systems and/or respiratory problems should get the flu vaccine, too.

B) It stops the virus before it has a chance to develop symptoms.

C) If you get a shot, you should be protected from it and not get that version of the respiratory flu. If you get the nasal vaccine, it is possible to get a form of the flu, but it's not very likely. It also takes the vaccine up to 2 weeks to be fully effective. If you do get the respiratory flu, then it's probably a different strain of the flu. This is also not to be confused with the stomach flu (gastroenteritis). That is caused by a totally different bug than the respiratory flu.

D) Different strains of the flu show up every year and a new vaccine is developed to prevent against the most prominent strain. The vaccines from previous years are still effective, but that doesn't mean THAT particular strain will show up the next year, so it wouldn't really do much.

a) It is recommended for most people, but the very old and young have less ability to fight the virus. Because of this it can be very serious or fatal. Only those with an allergy or have had a previous reaction should not have the vaccine. Infants and Pregnant women check with your Dr first.

b) Dead strains of the previous years virus and some other dead strains are in the vaccine. Your body builds antibodies to fight the virus.

c) I don't know if they actually get the flu, but I have gotten flu like symptoms like a fever and weakness after receiving the vaccine. Like I said your body fights the virus as if it where alive, so it can use normal infection fighting tactics.

d) Like I said earlier, the vaccine is made from the previous years strain, plus the body may need a booster to build up more antibodies!

(a)the flu shot is recommended for older adults, children, and pregnant women who will be in there second or third trimester because of a low immune response from the body which can lead to complications such as pneumonia
(b)the vaccine is intended to protect by causing the body to create antibodies against the current strains of influenza which helps build immunity.
(c)people do not develop the flu from flu vaccine
(d)a new vaccine is needed each year because virulent strains are continually mutating into different virus'.Flu vaccine is usually comprised of three different influenza strains. They are picked by what is perceived might be the most likely to come around that year.
