The flu and depression?

I know it's normal to feel depression/anxiety while you have the flu, but could the depression/anxiety still be caused by the flu, even if it started a week before i actually got the flu?

IDK. If you are depressed it weakens your immune system and you will have aches and pains and are more susceptible to illness.

Yes!The depression/anxiety still be caused by the flu.It doesn't always cause having a flu.It depends on weather your having a really bad depression or just a normal one.

have you seen that commercial that goes, "where does depression hurt?" EVERYWHERE.

when youre stressed or depressed your immune system goes down. which sucks cause its like adding insult to injury.

If you do not get sick often all of the changes you are feeling could be a result of that. Being sick screws up your entire body chemistry, and if you are not very used to it could make you feel depressed.
However, depression is a hard thing to understand or else you would not write this question. If you started feeling depressed before you got the flu then perhaps it was a precursor to getting sick, i.e. you felt run down because of anything.
Depression is very strange, and impossible to diagnose via yahoo answers :) Tell your doctor about this, if your yearly physical is not coming up then maybe call him or her with this question. Hope you feel better!

Well of course the 2 conditions are completely separate diseases.

Just like any other disease, if you get 2 of them at the same time, the cumulative effect can be huge.

However, the flu goes away, the depression does not without treatment.
