Do flu vaccinations a woman receives while pregnant carry over to the newborn? |
I was immunized against the flu while pregnant. My daughter is now four weeks old, and someone in the house has the flu. I know my baby's immune system is still weak, but am wondering if the flu vaccine I received carried over to her as well. No it would only help the Mother's immune system etc.Babies receive a boost of antibodies from the Mom,shorty before birth.that will give them good protection for about 6 weeks, and with breast feeding helps keeps the babies healthy.I would try to keep her from direct contact with the sick family member, and use antibacterial hand gel's and wipes all around the house.Congrat's on your new daughter, take care. SW RNP No, it doesn't. Her system is completely different than yours. Hopefully you are breastfeeding and keeping her away from the sick person. |
