I have a floater in my visreal fluid? |
I have a floater in my visreal fluid (I probably spelled that wrong). It is getting worse as time goes on. My left eye looks like I am looking through fog, and it makes it hard to focus properly. I know I need to see an opthomologist, but the last one I saw said there was nothing they could do. Has anyone else had this problem, and how did you take care of it? Floaters are very common and generally are harmless, but some are not and signal problems with the retina, especially those accompanied by flashing lights. You need to have it evaluated again, especially if you feel it's getting worse. Time is definitely of the essence where the retina is involved. Don't wait! That said, it you have had a posterior vitreous detachment without retinal involvement, the floaters can be quite large and annoying. There is no mainstream treatment for it and you typically have to make friends with it. There are surgeons out there who will try to reduce them with laser treatment. This is occasionally successful. I had a patient choose to undergo that procedure. He had to travel four hours away to find someone who would perform it, and his results weren't satisfactory. Take home point: go to another doctor for another opinion immediately. we all get floaters sooner or later and the eye Dr is right =there isn't a thing that can be done about them Get a second opinion from another ophthalmologist and make sure it is an ophthalmologist and not just an optometrist. Have them do their most extensive eye exam. It may truly just be a floater but detaching retinas have been known to be misdiagnosed as floaters. Ok, I'm a nurse and know whereof I speak: to the idiot who posted above me saying it's a disease- um no. Some people have floaters. I had them for years. I am nearsighted and have very pale eyes that are sensitive. I've had every eye exam done, by a DOCTOR, and my eyes are healhty. I dont know you personally, but many people have floaters that are harmless. annoying, but harmless. its called vitreous fluid. get a second opinion to be sure, and for comfort. Don't let morons here scare you. everyone gets floaters, there is nothing that can be done about them. Ahh thanks now I know whats up with my eye, I used to push my eyes together when I was younger which I think started this. I also used to look into the sun. Im gonna be screwed when Im old ...... as for your eye that sounds pretty harsh with the fog and all hope all turns out for the best. |
