What do the "floater's" in my vision mean? |
I don't know what to call them specifically, but I am sure you know what I am talking about. Basically, I just want to know if this is something I need to see a doctor about. They started about three months ago. I am twenty five, smoke, and in pretty good shape. Anyways, thanks in advance for all your answers. I have had them since I was kid. I researched them, and they are harmless. floater those things that obstruct your vision you should definitely seek a doctor... sometimes those are started when you hit the optic nerve brain part in the back of the head... I had that and had to wait a while but if you had it this long it may be something else.... this is too early yea I have one too. I am 25 and mine showed up at 23. I had this little dot floaty thing that would move around my eye. I ude to pay so much attention to it, That it would give me a headach. But I went to the doc and eye did a full eye exam and said it was normal. ussally they dont show up in your 20's but they can and as long as it is moving around in your eye and not staying still then it is a floater and no big deal. However I am not a doc and canr say for sure that is what it is so if you are worried go see a doc. It's your eyesight were talking about always better to be safe than sorry. imagine having a cup of coffee and theres a blob of foam on top. if you turn the cup quickly it will tuen but the blob of foam wont because of the intertia of the fluid. Same in your eye. When your eye moves some cells tend to get scraped off the inner surface by the fluid/solid interface and then they hang around as flaoters. everntually they usually go, but new ones will come. dont worry. Vitreous floaters are deposits in the vitreous humor of the eye, which is usually transparent. They are caused by a number of things and are usually just a sign of aging, but because in some cases, they are associated with other, more serious conditions, it would be well worth your while to see an optometrist or ophthalmologist to get them evaluated. I have them too. They started in my late 20's and drove me CRAZY! My eye doctor assured me that, although bothersome, it was within the norm. I made sure I got a second opionion and he said the same. I am now, 39 and it has grown a bit bigger. My spots have played connect the dot with these little squiggly lines now but, I have gotten so used to it that I have to focus to see them. I think they are called myopular headaches. My husband gets those floaters then a headache. |
