What are the causes for either a floater and a visual migraine? where do they stem from? what do they mean?

There are various reasons for both. I have both myself.
My floaters are just "debris" that is suspended within the fluid in my eyes. I have visual migraines in that I will occasionally lose partial vision in both eyes. At first they thought I was losing vision because of constricted blood vessels in the eye and when the blood flow slows down enough, you lose sight.

Mine are "just" migraines and I have very little pain until after, then it is just a dull ache. Usually will go away if I can get to a cool, dark place and I occasionally place a cold cloth over my eyes if I am not where I can get to a cool, dark place. Takes around 20 - 30 minutes for complete vision to return and about 2 hours for all pain to leave.

You should see a doctor though, because it could be anything at all or nothing to worry about.

You may have an astigmatism. when you have one your eyes don't completely focus and it makes your eyes strain to focus and see sharply without you knowing it. That straining is where the floaters and migraines come from. I have an astigmatism and I use to get those before I got glasses. I would go see an eye doctor.

Floaters are protein particles in the vitreous humor in the anterior chamber of the eye. They are harmless.
