Floaters and after images?

i have floaters but now i see after images without even looking at a bright light. i just see them and it stays for about 5 seconds then its gone. usually its green. i asked my doctor but she didn't explain it to me well. she just said i have normal eyes after dialating me and having some eye tests. so what is wrong with my eye if i see after images even if i dont look at bright lights?..

for Tom and everyone else, i see the after image even if i'm looking just on a plain image. like when im painting, im only looking on the wall with the same color then i just sudenlly see this green after image.

I used to get "floaters" too but they just went away on their own. My doctor wasn't concerned at all...

try this web site they helped me with all my eyeball questions.

I get them of the pupils, a kind of sunburst effect with a hole in the middle. Afterimages do NOT require bright lights, by the way. I have an animated gif file that relies on the afterimage effect for its own rather odd effect. It is not the brightness that does it. It is the color draining the resources of some of the receptors on your retina. Individual colors use different chemicals in the receptors and the lack of those chemicals causes an imbalance that your brain "sees" as the complimentary color of whatever you were looking at. When the chemicals replenish, the afterimage disappears.
