What makes certain people more prone to flea bites??

I just want to know because we have had fleas with our two cats and my two other fellow family members barily got any flea bites when I wad getting bitten like crazy. Please help me so the next time we have fleas, I can know why they are biting me and not everybody else!!

It probably has something to do with what you're eating, or NOT eating. Garlic seems to protect me from skeeter bites...maybe flea bites, too.

Diet

That is a great question. My son has that problem with mosquitos. He eats the same stuff as everyone else, washes with the same soap and clothes are washed in the same detergents....only he will come out with way more mosquito bites as anyone else.
My only advice would be to keep flea collers or something on your cats. Or maybe you have a nest of them in your room or something that the others don't have in common.
Good luck!

Unhygienic living is the main cause.maintain strict hygiene.

Its because you are so sweet. You have to constantly get after
the fleas on the cats and if you have carpets, they lay eggs and
endure any treatment and then they hatch and they are off and
running again. Dust with some flea powder every week.
Good luck !

Soft skin and sweet flesh, I hear.

you are what you eat. if you eat spicier can make a difference. talk to your pharmacist about vitamin b, not sure which one it is, but if you take it the fleas won't eat you.

you might also try frontline on the cats, if they don't have fleas you don't get bit. besides it's much healthier for your animals if they don't have fleas-they transmit all KINDS of nasty diseases/parasites.

Insects are attracted to your smell not you personally. Since they don't rely on their eyes...they rely on your scent. But not what you eat. Technically being sweet or garlicy is not what attracts them. It is having a high level of carbon dioxide excreted from your skin.

Sweat can make you have higher levels of CO2 (carbon dioxide)...Some people just sweat more than others. This is why men often get bit more than women.

Try showering more but avoid perfumey smells and powders.

Also...as a solution: ask your family to flea bomb the house before a problem starts and keep flea collars on your pets.

Better to prevent the problem....Good luck.
