Are these little bites all over my ankles flea bites? |
I keep getting tiny little bites all round my feet and ankles - they are ridiculously itchy and seem to stay for weeks. Are these likely to be cat flea bites? as I have 2 cats. I try to de-flea them regularly but is it possible that my house has now got fleas? If so how do i get rid of them? I am being driven mad with itchiness!! or could it be something else entirely? Without seeing them one cannot be sure, however the description and position is pretty typical for flea bites. You need to get environmental health in. Once the little biters get in your carpets you need to fumigate the whole place. It could be something else. I have 1 dog and 3 cats and I never get flea bites because they have recognised not to go outside but my dog is already medicated and de-flead. It sounds like fleas..You should "de flea" Your bed,the couch and the carpet! Get you cats a flea collar and check at your nearest drug store for some de flea stuff! Depends on where you live. With cats it probably is fleas, you may need to call a professional to come spray your house and yard for fleas. The other thing that comes to mind are chiggers. They are little tiny insects two and they are very itchy. sounds like flea bites to me. Especially if they are itchy and sore looking. You have to treat your home as well as the animal in some cases so i would suggest you get something it takes months for fleas to go from the home too. unless treated of course cat flea bites are quite big annd they tend to bite on fleshier bits what about scabies must be cat fleas or house bugs, just eliminate them. pl visit www.eHOW.com or www.ivillage.com It could be lots of things... flea bites are mainly found around the ankle and lowest part of the leg. And yes, cats are a big cause. especailly cats that are aloowed outside. You need flea collars for the cats, and you need to treat your carpets, bed clothes furniture and drapes for fleas as well. Rememebr that fleas lay eggs. You can kill off the live fleas and have a new batch hatch out days later. Contact your vet and ask for recommendations. Sounds like flea bites. We have outside pets, dogs & cats. We brought fleas into our house from outside. You can spray the house but you have to do it again in approx. 10 days. That's the incubation period for eggs to catch. The method I used worked for us. Take a small table lamp, small white glass bowl, water and a drop of dish detergent to soften the water. Set the lamp on the floor, put the bowl of water with a drop of detergent under lamp. This will need to be changed each day. Keep it out until you find no fleas. I usually leave it for several weeks. If the fleas are coming from your pets this may not work, but it helps. Hope it works for you--it has for other people and no insecticides. |
