Anyone have any home remedies to help with flea bites?

I have a cat which i regularly spray with different flea sprays but the few fleas that he has seem to be attacking me and i have alot of itchy bites so would like to know if anyone has any home remedies they can share with. ive already tried every cream and lotions from the chemists!!

Thank-You

I used to get flea bites ALL the time! Although I do not know what helps them stop itching, besides taking some Benadryl (which will make you VERY sleepy). What I do know is how to get them from eating you in the first place.

Avon makes a product called SKin-So-Soft. Rub some of that all over wherever they are biting...they will not bite you when you wear this stuff...I guess that would cure the future itching! :)

ummm....i kno dawn dish soap can get rid of the fleas, try washing with that and maybe it will help the bites...?

fresh pineapple juice and butter mix, chill, and apply

VaporRub helps cool down the itching.

Take one table spoon of mustered oil mix a pinch of salt and rub onto the effected area if will give you immediate relief.

Well, how to treat flea bites on human? Before you run off to your family doctor to seek medical treatment, here are some home remedies for the treatment of flea bites on human.

1.Firstly, it鈥檚 important to keep the affected area clean. Wash the bites with some antiseptic lotion or soap. Use cold water but avoid the use of warm or hot water as this may tend to stimulate itch

2.Secondly, apply a cold pack over the bites to reduce swelling.

3.Do not scratch the inflamed area as this may lead to open wounds and secondary infections.

4.If the affected area is read and swollen, you may apply a mild steroid cream like 1% hydrocortisone cream. This should be easily available from any pharmacy without the need of a prescription. Hydrocortisone helps in reducing inflammation rapidly. Alternatively, if you have a bottle of calamine lotion at home, this may help too.

5.Very often, the itch caused by the fleabites can be very intense. An oral dose of anti-histamine like Dimetapp, Chlortrimeton is very effective in relieving itch. Once the itch stops, you will stop scratching as well and the healing will take place faster.

Treatment of flea bites using these home remedies should improves within a few days, However, if the condition worsen whereby, they remained red and swollen with discharges, then a trip to your family doctor may be necessary. Your doctor may prescribe a course of antibiotics for you and a jab of steroid may be needed to stop the inflammation.

However, success in treating flea bites is by no means a solution to your problem. To avoid further bites from these little pesky creatures, the only solution is to get rid of them totally. Flea Treatment Tips

Fleas are stubborn parasites, mainly because they reproduce at such a prolific rate. Follow these guidelines, though, and you'll be on your way to a flea free home.

*
Treat every cat and dog in the house
It doesn't matter which product or combination of products you use, or whether you can actually see fleas on all your pets, ALWAYS treat every cat and dog in the house.
*
Persevere
In most cases, flea infestations should clear within a few days. However, flea eggs laid around your home can survive in the carpet for up to 9 months. During this time, they can hatch and jump back aboard the pet whatever treatment you use. This doesn鈥檛 mean that the product you are using isn鈥檛 working. Just that the existing infestation is clearing.
*
If you treat the pets correctly, you needn't spray the house
That's right. It's because all fleas will jump on your cat or dog as part of their life cycle. So if you have treated the cat or dog, they'll die out when they come into contact with the animal. This process won't be hastened by treating the carpets.
*
To hasten flea removal from the home
You can hasten removal of fleas by raising the temperature and humidity in the house to encourage fleas to hatch faster, whereupon they'll leap onto the pet, be exposed to the insecticide, and die out.

For a completely natural remedy, try lavender oil. Just add a drop to some ice water and apply it to the area.
