My wife and all my asian friends get flea bites but I do not?

Hi there,
Every year, my wife gets these really bad flee bites all over her body, they are very itchy and her skin swells up around the bite.
The Doctor says that they are not scabies. For years she has tried to get rid of them, but nothing seems to work.
And the strange thing is that I do not seem to get bitten at all by these 'fleas' and I have no idea why since we share the same bed.
We live in New Zealand and I am a local New Zealander, my wife comes from Brunei and we have many friends from Malaysia. Almost all of our friends from Malaysia also seem to have this same problem. No one knows why or how to get rid of them.
Has anyone encountered this before or knows how to get rid of the problem?

I just wanted to add the fact that we have no pets, so I don't think the problem comes from fleas from any animals

I get flea bites all the time. They swell and itch and eventually blisters form, they take forever to heal and leave scars. My doctor told me that this is just because I am allergic to flea bites. People who aren't allergic experience a small amount of itching, then the bites heal. I have never found anything that helps me except flea bombing everywhere everytime I start to get bitten. I'm a native New Zealander.

this is a type of allergy. try long term antihistamine preparation along with some medicated calamine or soothing local application. also get tests for worm in abdomen and if required get ALLERGY TEST done.

Sweats composed of chemicals.Different individual secretes different composition.
Therefore insects are attracted to different baits.

But, in your case it might not the bugs.
Do try to change detergent.
And do clean the washing machine.
Might be mould/fungus

Maybe if you do the blood groups of all the people with you, "with flea bites and without flea bites", you will get the answer...
Is it that you have a "rare blood group" ?
I think you will get the answer there, ...
I am also keen to know the "result" anyway...
