Flea bites or something else?

I just got a new kitten two days ago. Well, I woke up this morning with about 8 itchy red bumps on my stomach, but no where else. I checked my kitten and the bed, but don't see a single flea. Could it be fleas or something else?

Fleas can hide amazingly well. Since one flea generally bits around the same area twice before it goes off, you very well could have 2 or 3 fleas that gave you those 8 bites.

Jessica is right, though. If you have an actual raised area around the bite, that sounds more like a mosquito bite than a flea bite. But I would suggest washing all your bed clothes and sheets and sprinkling a little diatomacious earth on your mattress. Leave it on for a few hours, then vaccuum it up before you put on fresh sheets.

Diatomacious earth is organic, non-chemical and kills fleas by dehydrating them.

Also, if you're sensitive to flea bites as I am, the itch will make your eyes water. I found that putting a drop of Dawn or some other kind of dish soap directly on the bite, then rubbing it in a little, usually makes the itch go away.

It could be fleas I guess but they cause more like mosquito bites than itchy lumps. It's unlikely though if you checked the cat- maybe you're just allergic to the cat as a whole?
