What is the best way to get rid of "sand flea" bites? Or at least the itchiness of them?

I have bites all over the bottoms of my legs and ankles, they itch like crazy.. A dr. wanted to put me on some steroid type stuff to relieve the itchiness, I don't think that's such a good idea. Any suggestions on good lotions or anything else less dramatic?

Over the counter (OTC) best product in every household: Calamine Lotion. It's an 8% solution of calamine and 8% zinc oxide and is for poison ivy, poison oak, poison sumac, and is a drying lotion. Buy the least expensive (approximately $0.99 to 1.27). Follow the directions (just dab on with a cotton ball to cover liberally, let dry; repeat as necessary).

Mom's also use it for itchy chicken pox.

Cheers

my mom's friend found this out , but rubbing alcohol works, her daughter got HUGE bug bites on 4th of July

Make a paste of baking soda, and water. Apply it to the bites. It is best to use before the itching starts. This also works for bee stings.

We call them chiggers here...... soak you legs and feet in a tub of warm water with 2 cups of bleach...
