Fitness Q?

Hi,
I was wondering if anyone could help me with fitness tips in regards to running. I have been going to the gym for the last 2 months and my fitness has improved greatly (I was very very unfit 2months ago). At the gym, I've just been doing 45mins-1hr with no running involved.

However, I want to get to the stage where I can go for a jog / run, outside, for a reasonable length of time. Right now, if I even try to run I can't last for more than a minute. do I need to keep improving my fitness? is there any specific ways in which will help me gain the fitness and stamina to start running?

any help appreciated thanks!
p.s. my diet and daily consumption of food is good, 5 fruit n veg, 3 meals, 2-3 litres of water.

i was in the same boat, i couldnt jog at all, now i can do 6 miles

i say start gradually on the treadmill increasing your speed, not by a great deal until you come to a slow jog.only if u feel comfortable. you'l see you can do it because obviously your general fitness and stamina has improved anyway.

You are running too fast. Go to a track, where you can start off jogging a lap or two and walking a lap. Go to a running site and download a running training schedule. On line running log: www.coolrunning.com. Good luck on your running.

Start off on the treadmill with a fast walk then increase to a slow jog and so on start off with say 10 Min's and increase as your stamina builds

I run for the borough and personally i think treadmills are useless, you can run at full pace for a ridiculous amount of time. Try going for a slow jog, but speed up when you're going up-hill, it will hurt but your stamina will increase a lot, and you'll find that you will be able to jog at a normal pace for a long time.
