Fingernails producing odor?

My sister was recently under a lot of stress. She complained that she was having to wash her hands throughout the day because her fingernails were producing an odor. She says she has not used fingernail polish in months, so that's not the problem. Any ideas?

definitely see a doctor, sounds like a fungus or a yeast infection. or at very least it will be on more stess off her mind.

Fungus

I am not very sure but I think she might be getting toenail fungus. I am only 50% sure. I am not very sure at all so don't feel like this is 100% true.

Sounds like she has a fungus growing. OR because of the stress she was sweating excessivly and its resting in the grooves of her fingers.
She needs to make sure to wash her hands frequently and use a nail brush. If the smell continues she needs to see a doctor.

regardless of when she last used fingernail polish, it is very likely that she has a form of nail fungus. There are several over the counter products she can try, but if it gets worse, she needs to see a dr. Fungus can result in brittle nails and an unsightly look. It can also spread to other areas of the body and pose serious health risks. Think of all the areas of your body you touch with your hands! Try soaking hands in white vinegar. If this doesn't appear to help, see a dr.
