Nourishment for fingernails!? |
What is a good, mostly natural... pls. cure for dry nail? try selenium tablets, it's a mineral supplement - apparently most people don't get enough selenium in their diet and it is necessary for healthy skin, hair and nails - i take it and i noticed the difference after about 2 weeks. I tried taking it, just because i heard how good it was. Another thing that I read about, but haven't tried, is silicone tablets. Drink plenty of milk?? Ask a doctor, you're in the right place :) Sally Hansen makes some really good products for this. Just go to your local drugstore and check them out. Or, here is the website: Eat lots of food with calcium in it. That's what I was told You wont believe this solution but l assure you it works - [my longest nail at present is 2.5cm or just under an inch long] and that is to eat what we in the UK call jelly [l think it's called jello in the US] don't dilute it - eat it as it comes in the packet - one 'square' [segment] a day.....its the gelatine which does the job...you have nothing to lose and it is not expensive or unpleasant .....give it a try... .the worst it can do is nothing - let me know how you get on......... In the hospital setting I would keep a small tube of Neutrogena Switzerland formulae as this has been used frequently in extreme weather conditions and where it is my personal belief that lotions use alcohol which is very drying this is a more petrolatum based protectant which holds in moisture, no matter what, frequent hand washing depletes protein from the skin and nails and I was always at a loss with this one and had the ultimate no nos among nursing, sculptured nails that I never got a fungus as I kept it up every 2 weeks and coconut oil extra virgin warmed and applied to skin, hair and nails after a bath. Hey dragonfly sweetie...did you know dragonflies were my favorite insect...then butterflies and then daddy long legs...lol...anyway, check out the links below...both of these products sound great and since I'm having a problem with my nails I'm going to order them too. We'll have to get together in a month or so and compare...lol..hope they help both of us! Hugs!!! ^_^ Try eating jelly. My mum swears by it. |
