How can I stop biting my fingernails?

I've been biting my fingernails since i was like 3 and I really really want to stop biting my fingernails now. I've tryed all types of that gross tasting nailpolish, taping my fingers, mittens all day (it was too hot), and basically everything. Is there any way that I could get rid of this disgusting habit mentally? I've been able to stop for 2 months at a time, but nothing has worked for a while.

i am 36 and have been a biter for as long as I can remember. I'm just now starting to make a concerted effort to quit. I have not nibbled on my 2 pinkies for a week now, and have just started leaving my ring fingers alone. I think when I see the difference between the chewed and the not chewed I will break the mental cycle that causees me to chomp. Already I have noticed a great many uses for my nails. I can scratch my elbow very nicely as well as pick up a dime from the ground. good luck

Get a toothpick

cut them or put posion on them(that would stop yu i bet:))
