Medical question about my fingernails.....? |
I have a deep ridge in each of my fingernails on my right hand. The ridge or groove is in the same place toward the bottom of each nail. I heard that this was a sign that something is or was medically wrong at the time. I have them on the other hand too, but they arent as deep. Can anyone tell me what might have caused this. according to B Bates "Physical Examination and History Taking" a transverse groove across the nails is a result of an acute illness, appearing some weeks after the illness. and they will grow out and become normal again it is a vitiman defiency probably calcium You should see a reputable, english speaking, ethestician (nail specialist). They can tell what kind of ridges you have. Sometimes deep ridges can be caused by injury to the nail bed (eg wart removal etc). Other ridges come from some vitamin deficiencies. Some people say you are missing calcium others B12, and yet others iron. prenatal vitamins |
