Weird ridges on fingernails? |
my fingernails have these weird lines in them, running vertically. there are probly about 20 lines per nail. the nails are really bumpy to the touch. what could be casuing this? It appears that you're deficient in some nutrients. You should start taking a multivitmin everyday. Malnutrition. Take a multivitamin. It's going to take months to get rid of those ridges. I have this and so did my mother's father. It is probably hereditary. Any of your family from Northern Ireland? Have you hit it lately? take vitamins get checked out for fungus under the nails but most of all drink plenty of water and eat healthy, and put the bubble down I had that when I had acrylic nails......It was a major problem for me.....I had my ails done, and after a while...going there and having them re-done as needed......My thumb nails started hurting me. But they said...Oh their fine and kept re-doing them. Till, they were getting worse and tender....I insisted they remove them and underneath....They were terribly bumpy with many ridges....and yellow. I was told by a DR. I might lose them. I had to get very expensive medicine and it worked. Today my nails are fine. But I will never have them done again. Vertical ridges that appear on the nail can indicate disorders as simple as iron deficiency, poor absorption of vitamins and nutrients, overall poor health or they could indicate something as serious as kidney trouble. (So, you see why consulting your physician is so important.) These vertical ridges, as well as bumpy nails, can also suggest that one is prone to developing arthritis. Ridges running horizontally across the nail can indicate physical or mental stress. the first thing that comes to mind is a fungal infection. If it were only one or two nails, an injury to the cutical might be the cause. I agree with Michele. Malnutrition..... better go to doc and get a blood test so you can find out what you are missing... |
