What does it mean when fingernails have dents?

on some of my fingernails i have horizontal lines across them and they are kind of pushed in, so its like a dent across the middle of my nail and i heard that certain things like that on your nails has something to do with health so i was wondering what dents mean?

It could be a condition caused by iron deficiency, koilonychia.

My sister had something similar. Hers hurt when she bumped them.

Lines or dents I am not sue which but one or both is a sign of i think Vitamin D deficiency.
