How do you diagnose an injury to your finger?

im not sure what i have i can move but only halfway, it looks swollen around the middle joint of the finger
so can you tell me if it's broken,a dislocation,a subluxation, jammed, sprained, or another injury. or if you can't tell tell me how to tell the difference

You really can't tell without an x-ray. It *sounds* broken. If it were a dislocation, it would be more misshapened than swollen. You should see a doctor.

X-ray.

If you can move it that's a good sign.

If it were a subluxation, were broken, or...dislocated, you'd be able to see it.

No matter what it is though...there's not much you could do about it.

It's probably just a slight sprain, and will go away in a few days to a week. Make sure to put plenty of ice on it to help the swelling go down though.
