Too many injuries in a year---reason and prevention? |
This year I had the opportunity to join many sports teams. So, I did. I ran cross country in the fall, played basketball in the fall, ran track in the spring, played softball in the spring, and am currently taking a speed, strength, and agility class. During basketball I sprained my ankle---was out for 3 weeks or something, jammed many fingers and currently have pain in my thumb when I push it very close to my thumb, hurt my shoulder (just pain--not severe), backed into a car's exhaust pipe (stupid, yes), got hit by a softball in the nose, and had pain in my knees (possibly growing pains). Currently I have pain in my right knee--on and off, and sprained my left ankle today. Am I being too hard on myself or what? I'm going into high school this year and planning on playing 3 sports. Bad luck? Not bad luck. It shouldnt prevent you from 3 sports. You should however, take a few weeks off from everything and allow your body to heal and recover before the fall. Do light exercises and cardio work. See a doctor about your thumb and ankle. |
