I think i have fifth's disease? |
i have a poison ivy-like rash on my face, and a little bit on my arms and torso. i had a sore throat yesterday and one "rash" on my neck. i woke up today to find the rash. i have a fever today (and possibly yesterday). i went to the doctor, and he was baffled. a strep test proved negative. do i have fifth disease? i checked webmd, and it says kind of what i have. helP!! Your cheeks should look like they were slapped - not a poison ivy rash (that is more a contact dermatitis). Sounds like it could be fifth's to me, too. My kids have each had it twice. The good news is that it will go away on its own and it's not really that bad. It could be another viral type rash, too. If it's viral, you just have to let it run its course. Just be careful if you suspect fifth's that you stay away from pregnant women! My sister works in a daycare center and was just telling me about this because I questioned a rash my daughter has on her bottom. What you explained sounds exactly what my sister described as being Fifth disease. She said it is caused by a viral infection so there is really nothing you can do about it. Just let it run it's course. Apparently Fifth disease is going around. Good Luck I got Fith's disease when I was seven or so. It kind of looks like baby skin. It kind of looks like suasage and veiny. Nothing to worry about though. It isn't life threatening. |
