Does fifths disease affect adults?

Yep, sure can. I had it sometime ago, as an adult, and now have rheumatoid arthritis because of it.

Fifth disease is caused by the human parvovirus, and is not related to canine parvo.

Yes, most adults who get Fifths Disease develop just a mild pinkness of the cheeks on no rash at all.
Adults develop joint pains, especially in the knees, more often than the rash. These pains may last 1 to 3 months.
Danger to pregnant women.

Of course if they didn't have it as a child. It's quite common and most people don't even realize what is wrong with them (or their children).
