I need all the info I can get on Fifths Disease...? |
Were did it come from? My son had Fifths disease before. Its also known as parvovirus B19 and "slapped cheek" disease. Its actually not a disease at all --its a virus-- and once the child has the rash, it is no longer contagious. They're most contagious right before the rash appears and the rash can last about 1 to 2 weeks. Other than the rash there are usually no other symptoms at all although its possible to have fever, aches and itching. My son didn't have any of that. Its not really treatable so you just wait it out until the rash goes away. The child can go to school with the rash without passing it on to anyone else. It comes from the dreaded fourths disease, which is a cousin of the mighty ninth disease. The awesome tenths disease is what I have. My name is Luca. Help, I'm losing it here. What are the symptoms and when do they appear? it is a fifth generation measles....there isnt anything that can be done for it except take benadryll if it itches.....the rash concentrates mainly on the cheeks and on the "hot spots"...crotch, armpits, neck, waist band, and behind the knees.....typically a person becomes infected with it up to 2 weeks before the rash shows up......it can be passed on from the time infected to the time the rash is gone..... |
