Are they Hives?

hello i asked a question on here about an hour ago about my 9 year olds rash.and i got alot of great answers. but i took some of your advise and looked up " Fifth Disease"and it said that the rash normally starts on the face, she dont or never had any on her face, and it also said that the rash dont appear on the palms of your hands, and she has it there too. so i am really stumped...lol

I don't think it's Fifth's disease. The hallmark sign for Fifth's disease is a "slapped cheek" appearance.

I'm thinking it may be Roseola. Roseola is also called viral exanthum. It's caused by a virus and it starts out with a fever (often a high one), then the rash occurs after the fever subsides. If the fever and rash occured together, then it could be any number of viral infections as many of them can cause weird rashes in kids. Even though it is more common for young kids (under age 4) to get this, I have seen it in older children too.

Most viral infections in healthy kids aren't dangerous and will just resolve on their own. Sometimes it takes several days to several weeks for rashes from viruses to go away. In most cases, these need no treatment.

Here is a site with more information on Roseola:

If your daughter is no longer running a fever and is otherwise acting ok (eating, drinking, energy level, etc...) then this will probably be self-limiting and go away on its own without you having to take her in to see the doctor.

But, if she starts acting ill (high fever, sluggish, irritable, etc.) then by all means, get her into the doctor.

That def isn't Fifth Disease. I had that a few months ago. Though it wasn't a classic case, I did get a rash and was extremely uncomfortable. My rash was on my arms and chest though. Heat and sunlight made it a million times worse.

My suggestion for your daughter would be take her to your local doctor. He/She can better diagnoses her.
