Fibromyalgia??

It seems as if this is what i think i have....How is it diagnoised??I have all the tender spots and muscles stiff all the time.Anyone else have this??How do u talk to your doctor about it??Any suggestions

Make an appointment with a rheumatologist. Blood testing will be done to check your sedimentation rate (the measure of inflammation in your body) among other factors to make sure there aren't any other issues.

I've had fibro for 9 years, there is no cure but medications do help. Don't be afraid to ask questions and the most important...listen to your body and do what it tells you to do. If it is telling you to rest, do it! Feel free to email me at caching4us@yahoo.com with any questions!

The American Rheumatology Association has published diagnostic criteria that should be met for the diagnosis to be made, on clinical grounds. There is no blood test or anything of the sort to tell, though blood tests and x-rays may be done to make sure you don't have something else that's similar. In the profession, that's called "a diagnosis of exclusion" when you do what you can to make sure it isn't something else, and when you've satisfied yourself it isn't something else, then it must be that. Sort of like the hound that didn't bark in Sherlock Holmes. Have a frank discussion with your doctor, but don't push for a diagnosis. You can't have fibromyalgia for a week, for instance, because the diagnostic criteria include a length of illness. It's a difficult diagnosis to make, and hanging a label on it doesn't help with treatment, so you'll need to work with your doctor and be patient.

Have you ever had yout thyroid checked? I ask because when my levels were really low I had the worst muscle spams ever. I really thought I had fibro too. But once I got on teh right levels of Thyroid my muscle pain is all but gone. I also know that Dr Lowe in Colorado does treatment with a all T3 medicine that is suppose to help.

The symptoms are: widespread musculoskeletal pain, severe fatigue, and disturbed sleep.

Missy, my regular dr sent me to a rhuematologist. And he diagnosed the Fibro.I had all 19 trigger points and every other symptom too.Good luck.
