Fibroids in uterus? |
yesterday i found out i had fibroids in my uterus actually a year ago i was diagnosed thru ultra sound then six months ago another ultrasound came back showing no more, now again i have them do they cause infertility?my DR. says no but i really don't like him i'm looking for a female gyno.my periods are very long and heavy with lots of pain he says fibroids do not cause pain well what does he know he's a man.test also showed polyps in to parts of my colon and are alot scattered he says that's what's most likely causing my pain and i think it's a female problem that's causing my pain is he just trying to throw me back to my regular DR. or do you think that he's wright that i should be worried about my polps then anything else wright now,he says i'm fine in the female dept why can't i believe it?buy the way i'm 35 and it just seems impossible to have so may polyps in my colon. I had Fibroid removal surgery in April and it took care of a lot of the problems. I have always had them but pregnancy made them get bigger. Sounds like you need to get a second opinion. Polyps can become cancerous so you don't want to wait on them. Fibroid's very rarely become cancerous but there is always the possibility. Fibroids, if causing you alot of problems, may warrant a hysterectomy. There are a couple of other choices before the hysterectomy. So get a doctor that will explain all this to you and give you web sites that you can read for yourself. You would need a colonoscopy or sigmoidoscopy to check for polyps. I had a fibroid tumor, the size of 5 month fetus, that caused severe cramps and clotting, I was changing 2 over night pads every 2 hours. I became anemic from losing so much blood, although I was taking an iron supplement. By the time I started having dizzy spells and fainting something had to be done. The last period I had lasted 14 days and I was miserable. A complete hysterectomy changed all of that and I've never felt better. I had a colonoscopy removed and i wasn't aware I had it. No symptoms. I would think the fiboids are causing the problem. Get a second opinion. Hi, Normally I would say this, but you need a new doctor. Any doctor who will tell you that fibroids can't cause pain isn't up to date on his knowledge. Fibroids can cause infertility - studies are showing that myomectomy can actually improve your ability to get pregnant. If he's telling you that the fibroids don't cause infertility he needs to go back to med school! |
