Question about uterine fibroids?

i was diagnosed w/ uterine fibroids and am getting lots of information that i am trying to sort out.
i just need a woman who has been thru' this herself to give me these answers.
can fibroids contribute to this feeling of fatigue i have?
and can having fibroids change my normal vaginal scent?

I didn't have fibroids, but I did have several polyps, which I suppose are similar - - - - it causes the same problems anyway. I had started having irregular periods and then very heavy periods. They did a biopsy, an ultrasound and blood tests and couldn't find anything. Finally the doctor decided to do a D&C. During the D&C she found and removed the polyps. But then I also agreed for her to do the NovaSure procedure (endometrial ablation), which essentially burns the lining of the uterus. This procedure can only be done on women who are finished having children. You could say it is a nicer alternative to a hysterectomy.

There was no unusual vaginal scent going on with my problem, but I could see that it might be possible. That might be a question you could cover with your doctor or a nurse.

If you still plan to have a child despite the fibroids, I can't help with any advice or experience there. However, I think that removing the fibroids can definitely help your fatigue. My outpatient surgery had a recovery time of about a week or so. That was in September and I have so much more energy now, even though I'm way out of shape. I can only imagine how wonderful I'd feel if I added diet and exercise. I feel so much better than I used to. The constant "female" problems were really dragging me down.

If you are considering the edometrial ablation, I think that the statistics show that 95% of women who have it done are satisfied with the results. You see, afterwards, you either have a very light period from now on or you don't have one at all. It's been over 3 months for me now and I haven't had one yet. I'm hopeful to never have one again since I'm in my mid-40's. Good luck!

No I really do not think they give you those symptoms, I have them & they cause back pain lots of low stomache pressure & heavy periods.
