Dr. wants me to go on Ortho T with Depo, denies intramural fibroids symtomatic. 2nd opinion?

A month ago I suddenly had severe cramps, with two large blood clots. I passed out and was taken to the hospital.
I started a heavy period despite being on Depo Provera.
My period has gone on for about 26 days now.
My family doctor ordered an ultrasound which found a grape sized intramural fibroid. He sent me to a gyn he knows.
She, while being condescending, and rude, told me that intramural fibroids cause no symptoms, and though I have two months of Depo in me, wants me to go on Ortho Trycycline. She says the symptoms are from the depo not working, though it worked fine for the last 10 months before the incident I described.
This seems to be a dangerously high amount of hormones to have in my body.
Also I know that intramural fibroids DO cause the same symptoms I am experiencing.
Also, wont the estrogen in the ortho cause any fibroids to grow?
Should I get a second opinion, or trust my family doctors faith in her?

Actually Submural and Subserosal fibroids do not tend to cause any symptoms. however your Depo Provera can be a problem and you can develop heavy break through bleeding due to a tollerance being developed to the depo. Hvae you considered the use of the Mirena IUCD coil as an effective method to prevent bleeding.

fibroids tend to shrink as oestrogen levels drop towards menopause, so unless cause continued problems surgical intervention is not always necessary. i would try the Ortho and see if it helps, if not return to your GP

Yes you should definitely get a second opinion. This is a life threatening situation and getting a second opinion is vital.

You need to get a second opinion & do not ever go on Depo Provera again.
