Super high fiber diet for weight loss?

I recently saw a program on public television for the fiber 35 diet. The diet appealed to me because 1) I eat a lot of vegetables/high fiber foods anyway and 2) the diet's creator claims that eating 35 or more grams of fiber per day causes your body to burn a couple hundred calories just by processing the fiber. I've been on the diet only 2 weeks and have gotten past the nightmare cramping, bloating and *ahem* constant gas expulsion, but I'm wondering if this will really work in the long run. I've read some consumer reviews on the fiber 35 diet and wonder if the rave reviews of losing tons of weight are really true. Anyone have any experience with this? I'm on this diet primarily to lose weight and secondarily to preserve my health with healthy eating. In a typical day I eat a couple bags of frozen vegetables (broccoli, corn, etc.), a can of lentil or black bean soup, red beans & rice, oranges, and oatmeal or bran cereal. No meat, which is a new thing for me!

Due to a health problem, my doctor perscribed a high fiber diet a year ago. I have followed it strictly...no change in exercise or anything and lost 10 lbs (I was not overweight, just a couple extra lbs) in the last year. I would say increasing your fiber would definitely help you loose extra weight and keep you healthy.

personally i like this diet a lot more than atkins or south beach diet. its basic and it really makes sense if you know how food digestion works. the main idea behind it is that fiber takes longer to digest, so therefore you have something in your stomach longer, which means you wont be as hungry.

i think that this is a lot safer than any other diet, and although you may not see results as fast as the other ones, your results wont leave you if you get off the diet.

I heard eating that much fiber is actually bad for you. It probably only helps you poop more that's why you notice weight loss. it's probably not body fat but just fecal mass.

Fad diets are bullsh!t, they come and go, and america is still fat.

Here's the poop, plain and simple. Burn more calories than you take in. Add up all the calories in all your food, It sucks, but if you have a routine diet you will begin to memorize the calorie count. If you cant find the time to count calories, then i guess losing fat isnt worth your time either, feel me?

E-mail me if you have anymore Qs
