Does fiber help you lose weight? What foods have a strong source of fiber?


I have a few questions about Fiber:
1. Does it help you lose weight?

2, What SPECIFIC types of foods have a good source of fiber (cereal, bread, etc.)

Please give me some honest and accurate information

for the record,
1. in a way it does help you lose weight since fiber-rich foods contain high-water content, you end up getting full sooner so as a result, you eat less and that contributes to weight loss!

2. fruits (apples, kiwis, oranges, strawberries) , veggies (broccoli, celery, cauliflower, carrots, etc.), & ALL wholegrain cereals, oatmeals, & breads are all rich in fiber (Kashi, Oroweat, Quaker)

I really dont know number one, but i know number 2 =)

Mini Wheats are huge for fiber. Also wheat bread (must be wheat it has more than white). Also Wheaties have alot of fiber.

Yeah, it will help you loose weight since the calorie content of most high fiber foods is lower than the low fiber foods. And, high fiber foods tend to be more filling. Besides, high fiber is good for the digestive tract.

Remember, calorie management and exercise are the key to successful weight loss.

fibre helps you lose weight in 2 ways: it keeps you feeling full longer so you tend to eat less, and it speeds up your intestinal transit, so you basically poop out more calories.
all fruits and vegetables are good sources of fibre - dark lettuce, celeri, apples and grapes are great. as well and whole / multi-grain breads (look for 4-6 g of fibre per serving)
another way to get more fibre is adding ground flax seeds to your food, it doesnt taste like much, so mixing into yogurt or pasta sauce or on top of a salad is great.
