Fiber and my weight?


My doctor told me I needed more fiber in my diet, but I was always told food with fiber can make you gain weight. I'm 15, 5'2", and 167 pounds, I've been desperately trying to lose weight for the past few months. Is there a good way to keep up with a fiber diet and lose weight? Also, what would be the fastest way for me to lose weight?

Any food eaten over the recommend amount can make you gain weight especially when not exercising. But on the avg. foods with the most fiber content will help maintain blood sugars longer which will help control binges. Try to shoot for 20-35 grams of fiber per day. The upper limit would be best. But be sure to add fiber slowly if not use to eating that much fiber.

That's bullshit. Food with fiber doesn't make you gain weight. On the contrary. Most foods with fiber are lower in calories that less fiber rich foods. Not so calorie dense and not so much sugar.

The ONLY way to loose weight is to burn more calories that you take in.Period!!!

Get plenty of exercise. That will speed up your metabolism and allow your body to burn calories more efficiently. Also eat less and eat smarter. This all contributes to a healthier life style change and you will lose weight and keep it off.

It's all a matter of HOW BAD DO YOU WANT IT?

Fiber, by definition, can not be digested. Technically foods high in fiber are just roughage. High fiber diets can hurt your digestive tract, so be careful as too how much you consume, because the consequences can be ugly.

    seriously... forget the pills, and you dont need to count the fiber in your food, cant have too much, so eat a few leaves of lettuce and a couple of celery sticks and you're more than set.
