Adding fiber...? |
Since low-carb dieting is all about carbs minus fiber, can I eat foods with higher carbs if I add fiber capsules or Fiber Sure to my food? Does that count or does it actually have to be part of the food naturally to lower the carb count? Fiber is subtracted from the carb-count of the food which you are eating. I've heard that adding extra fiber can to some degree detract from the carbs from other foods, but nothing substantial enough to rely on it. So if a bowl of fiber one has 10 carbs but 4 of them are fiber, you would count 6 carbs. Adding some other form of fiber would not alter that. It actually has to be apart of the food. Eating raw fiber might be good, but you're still getting the carbs from the other food. when your on a low carb diet they want you to eat fiber there are no carb that count in fiber If you start taking fiber caps, i believe you to be trying to game the system. it sounds unnatural and a bad idea to me. The whole idea of letting you get more cals by having the fiber back out is to have the dieter make better food choices. If you are eating what you want without regard to nutrition and then popping a few pills to attempt to undo it, it seems like you would be unhappy with your results. I recommend going cookbook. |

Ideally, you should have 25 mg. of fiber a day, but rarely does anyone actually consume this much fiber through their daily diet alone.
