How much psyllium fiber supplements should I take?

My fiber supplement says 3g fiber, 2g soluble fiber in one tablespoon. If I'm suppose to get 25g of fiber a day, that would be 8 tablespoons but my body can't seem to handle even 4 tablespoons. Not a big veggie eater.... so I'm confused, how much should I take, what is normal?

Ideally, you should have 25 mg. of fiber a day, but rarely does anyone actually consume this much fiber through their daily diet alone.
The way I look at it, I try to eat healthy, replace regular pasta with multi-grain pasta, eat wheat bread high in fiber and I TRY to eat fruits/veggies. I also use psyillium to supplement my diet. The important thing to do when taking a fiber supplement is to make sure you take it with plenty of water because the fiber expands in your stomach and you need lots of water to keep it all moving properly through your gastrointestinal tract.
Therefore, my suggestion is to take one large spoonful with breakfast and one large spoonful with dinner.
Any supplementation is better than doing nothing at all.

enough to make you "move". psyllium fiber is a laxative..

good sources of fiber are Oatmeal, bran, veggies, & fruit & juices. plus, they have the vitamins you need.
