What Has High Fiber?!?


I just got the word from my doctor my cholestral *sp* is out the roof! He told me to crack down and eat more fiber and take some fiber mixture or pills. Also said to Exercise more!! I just am wondering what is best to eat with tons of Fiber and what will keep it easy to maintain and get a healthy weight and body. I know alot of veggies. but what else if you have a website I will love it and also any info. thanks so much!!

should I eat small meals all day or make enough for 3 meals to cover me for the day?

Eat all multi grain breads, rice, pastas etc.....no more white flour.
All bran cereal
Raisin bran
Brown rice
Brown pasta
fruits
veggies

Oat Bran muffins.
They supposdedly reduce cholesterol.

apples have a lot of fiber

prunes, dates, nuts, spinach are great sources of fiber, so are those wassa crackers that taste like cardboard. I sooner eat the cardboard.

Fiber One Granola Bars. They are yummy and come in two flavors. But beware, to much fiber can give you gas and give you the runs..

* Flaxseeds
* Fruits
* Oat bran
* Peanuts, walnuts
* Psyllium seeds
* Rye crisp crackers
* Vegetables
* Wheat bran
* Wheat crisp crackers
* Whole grain bread
* Whole grains: wheat berries, barley, rye, bulgar, buckwheat
* Whole-wheat pasta
Good luckkk ! =]

Don't go to simple carbs like processed anything...bread, baked stuff, crackers, cookies, etc, cuz those will put the pounds on. I'd just stick to veggies. You'll get super healthy in the meantime.

I also am into a high fiber diet:

-prunes
-Del Monte high fiber enriched juice drink (very affordable)
-corns
-raisins (check for dietary composition at the back, should not be ZERO%)
-apple (eat with skin)
-oranges (serves as vitamin C to better absorb iron)
-OATMEAL!!!!
-wheat bread
-fiber supplements e.g. fibrosine, fibroplus(eew)
-avoid soda!
-milk

However, I recommend that you also take a fiber supplement, because it can be tough to get 30+ grams a fiber a day. Go to a health store and buy a fiber supplement with Psyllium Husk (e.g. Yerba Prima) or buy Metamucil.

But if lowering cholesterol is your goal, you should also take a quality Omega 3 supplement like Cod Liver Oil. Take a lot of it. The Omega 3's will really help lower triglycerides too as well as provide many other health benefits.

The combination of fiber supplements and Omega 3 supplements should help a bunch.
