What does it mean to "Check Your Stool For Fiber"? What do you look for? It always looks the same to me...

OK, so all I hear is "Check your stool to see if your eating enough fiber".

What the hell does that mean?

I eat fiber but not enough to like, see cardboard chunks or anything...

No one will tell me what 'fiber' is suposed to look like...

I don't want any retarded or just disgusting to be disgusting answers... This is a serious question...

Just because it has to do with poop doesn't mean that I'm not being serious!

It is just a bodily function... Everyone does it and looking for fiber is suposidly part of maintaining good health.

Thank you all for any SERIOUS answers!

(I WILL violate any answer that isn't serious and just meant to be disgusging... Be warned!)

If it is still visable I hope all the other users report him as well...

I don't think a doctor/nurse would say "Check your stool for to see if you are eating enough fiber," but essentially if you ARE eating enough fiber, your stool should be soft, easy to pass, kinda "fluffy," it may actually float (but not necessarily). When you have enough fiber in your diet, you will probably have more than one stool a day... say two or three.

Obviously, a stool that does NOT have enough fiber in it will likely be pellet/rock-like, hard, rather dense in consistency. You may have one stool a day or even skip a day or two when you are not getting enough fiber.j

All in all, eating large amounts of fiber is a very healthy practice. Stool is "decayed" food. The longer it sits in your system, the more it affects the efficiency of your digestion AND it increases your risk for colo-rectal cancer.
