Do fiber make you gain weight or lose weight?


i just recently started working out and eating right but i have been gaining weight and i brought some fiber sure and somebody told me fiber makes you gain weight

Lose weight. Fiber rich foods are usually low in calories and fat and they help you to feel full longer so you eat less!!

fibre helps the food go through your body faster =if you eat small portions of food ,count the calories and throw in a bit of exercise ,you will be well on your way to getting extra pounds off=good luck

That is not true. Fiber has no calories.It works to fill you up and helps to propel waste through your colon faster. It will absorb lots of water so you could have some extra water weight in your stools,but you loose that when you use the toilet. The other side to all this is, as you build muscle and lose fat you can experience a slight increase in weight as muscles weigh more than fat.But as you replace the fat with muscle you will more efficiently burn your fat. Be patient,keep up with the fiber and program.You will slim down and get healthier

Fiber should help one to lose weight if that is the goal- it should be combined with lotsss of water-not soda or tea or coffee, but water.I have used this method before and it worked. If you eat a lot now and eat a lot w/fiber on top of this it won't help lose weight. WATER,WATER WATER & WALK, WALK ,WALK------working out will turn fat into muscle which is more dense meaning it will burn more calories -- the weight may not necessarily change a lot right away but in time it will because of the body mass.

Fiber does not make you gain or lose weight. It helps your digestion. Fiber has the ability to make you feel fuller so that you don't eat as much. It also makes your stomach have to work harder to break down foods which means your body is burning more calories for digestion. I drink a glass of fiber/water 15 mins before each meal. The fiber coats my stomach so sugar and carbs are not so easily absorbed into the blood and again that coating makes the stomach have to work harder to get to the foods.
