Bilateral fetal renal pyelectasis? does anyone know anything about this? |
im 28 weeks pregnant and i just had an ultrasound yesterday, my doctor told me that I had to have a sono from a perintologist because the fetal urine tract measures 5mm on the right and 4 mm on the left. he said the cut-off is 4 mm but since im slightly over i need to get checked. im scheduled to see a perintologist next week for a sono on the fetus' kidneys. im not sure whats going on really, but i am extremely worried that it might be something serious. he said it wasnt, but he had a worried look on his face. does anyone know anything about this or has had an experience?...plz help. sorry if nothing makes sense. im kinda lost myself. At my 20 week sono, the Dr. referred me to get a level 2 ultrasound to take a look at the kidneys, he suspected bilateral pyelectasis. I suppose the baby was right at the cut off for the baseline. Basically if they do diagnose your baby with it, they will do routine scans until delivery, and then one directly after birth. They will be measuring to see if the kidneys are <10 mm or so. If so, they will be able to take care of the problem with a minor surgery. why not google it,i dont think anybody can tell how bad it is until after birth |
