My friend has taken 2 tablets of methergine on his 2nd or 3rd month of pregnancy. what will happen to fetus?

she wants to abort her child so a friend of hers gave her 2 tablets of methergine. she was 2 or 3 months pregnant she said that she took methergine but the fetus is still there. now she is worried of what will be her baby's condition in her womb since she is still carrying it. ultrasound shows that there is no fetal defects. are there anymore problems that can arise due to methergine that she took?

its best to talk to a docter about it

Methergine was originally a drug given after a woman had given birth to stimulate the uterus to contract and return to its normal size and muscle tone. Taking it during pregnancy could have caused an abortion or placental separation among other complications. An abortion would have been obvious. With placental separation (the placenta is the organ that connects the baby's blood supply to the mother's blood supply) the baby could still die but not be expelled resulting in serious complications or even hemorrhaging (large blood loss), for the mother-to-be.

There are not sufficient studies to say what the medication may have done to the baby but there are warnings against taking it when pregnant or nursing...leading me to believe that there have been reports of complications.

My best advice is for your friend to tell the doctor what happened. There may not be any problems but in the worst case not only will the baby die, but the mother could lose her life too.

your "friend" belongs in jail where other murders and those who attempt it are
