Rank in Order...?

who you would give a heart transplant to?- Rank from first choice to last...
1. newborn baby with cerebral palsy
2. 35 year old mother with two children
3. 35 year old male refugee with family still in Africa
4. 40 year old heart surgeon
5.18 year old boy with Fetal Alcohol Syndrome
6. 25 year old woman with sziophrenia


I know most of you think you are not quailified to make these decisions but what would you do if you HAD to?

Where these questions come from I don't know...

2. the mom because her kids need her
4 the surgeon because his good for mankind
3 the african because of his family
6 the 25 year old because her disorder can be controlled
5 the 18 year old because he will be okay
1 the baby

I would say either 2 or 4. 2 because I'm a mother and I have a soft spot for a mom with kids. 4 because the surgeon can continue to save lives for a few more years if they are well.

That's why they have carefully managed lists - so individuals don't have to make a decision about whose life is worth more.

It's easy to want to choose 2 or 4, but just because a newborn has cerebral palsy doesn't mean they are mentally handicapped - they could be the person who invents the cure to AIDS.
