Fertility and smoking cigarettes?

I read on the internet that in men and women if your a smoker that it can greatly reduce your fertility, I was wondering how?

The nicotine, and tar works to decrease ferility however I do not know why.

Not sure about that. I'm from a large family and all my ancestors smoked.

I have fallen pregnant 5 times and I smoke. I guess they reckon the sperm and eggs can be damaged by the toxins in the tobacco. I was lucky some people may not be.

A study has just been released that smoking whilst pregnant can reduce the size of your baby. Reports that teenagers (and in fact adult women) are smoking to try and reduce the pain of child birth have been in the press just this week. Smoking is not good for you or your baby but, if you insist on doing it whilst preggers, at least try not to smoke around the baby when born - it could lead to asthma and various other illnesses.
Not to preach like......

i think i read something similar, but what I read is smoking decreases your chances of conceiving a boy

because from my mind it affect the heart and its power to push blood to other parts in the body
fertility depend on the power of the man so when he is weak in his heart his ....... cant stand up because it depend on the power of blood
so he cant even do anything else cry

i really don't think smoking has anything to do with fertility. i think fertility is just its own problem. they are trying to blame everything on smoking. lots and lots of people smoke and have children.
