Any fertility problems after LEEP procedure? |
I'm 24, and scheduled to have a LEEP procedure in a few weeks. I had 2 abnormal paps and a colposcopy which showed abnormal cells. Now I'm going to have the LEEP done to remove those cells. I don't have any children but want to in the future and I'm scared of compromising my ability to get pregnant later. Are there high risks of fertility problems after the LEEP procedure? Any advice, info you can give is appreciated. Thanks so much! Ive had that procedure done a while ago and the doc that did it said it will not affect my chances of having children and there should be no problem with conceiving....so i wouldnt worry about it too much :) but if you do have questions i would just ask the doc that you are going to... no "fertility" problems, it will not affect your ability to GET pregnant. however, cervical insufficiency can occur after leep, this could cause a miscarriage around the 4-6 month time. the cervix is weakened and opens up due to the weight of the pregnancy. it does not happen to everyone of course, and if you have cin 2 or 3 you will need the leep anyway. if you only have cin 1, you might want to find a doc who can treat you with laser |
