I'm not sure what you mean by the fertility period....

But, fertilization can occur within a 3(ish) day period. The egg doesn't fly down the tubes at light speed. It takes a while to get from the tube to the uterus. Sex doesn't have to occur on the day of ovulation. You can still become pregnant if sex happens a day or two before and after the day of ovulation.

You can get pregnant at ANY TIME, before/during/after period, protected or not!

If you want to know this in order to keep from getting pregnant, forget it, it doesn't work. Anytime you have unprotected sex, you can get pregnant. A doctor told me I would never be able to get pregnant, I now have 2 children in their mid 20's. I don't remember the exact amount of time, but sperm stays alive longer than you may think, and air doesn't kill it.
