Are there any difference between farsightedness and presbyopia?

Farsightedness (hyperopia) is a common vision condition in which you can see objects in the distance clearly, but objects nearby are blurry. If you're farsighted, your eye is probably too short from front to back, causing light rays to be focused behind rather than on the back of your eye (retina).

Presbyopia is theloss of ability to focus the eye sharply on near objects as a result of the decreasing elasticity of the lens of the eye. The eye's ability to focus on near and far objects鈥攖he power of accommodation鈥攄epends upon two forces, the elasticity of the lens of the eye and the action of the ciliary muscle, a roughly ring-shaped muscle that encircles the lens and is attached to it鈥?br>
so,yes there is a difference

I used to work for an eye doctor so we used these terms often. Here is the simple answer based on my recollection:

myopia= nearsightedness.
hyperopia= farsightedness.
presbyopia= what older people get when they start needing reading glasses.

Farsightedness or hyperopia, is the opposite of myopia or nearsightedness...people who are farsighted cannot see close up, but can see pretty well at distance.

Presbyopia is a condition that occurs as we all get older. It involves the lens becoming stiffer and not able to help the eye focus for near work as it does when we are younger necessitating the need for magnifying reading glasses.

You are born with farsightedness.
Presbyopia is a form of farsightedness which comes about as you age.
