I have had fibromyalgia for more than 20 years . can it affect the nerves and muscles behind my eyes?

I have noticed I am having the same type of pain I have in my arms and face. I hope you say no :) I am already light sensitive and I just don't need this.My insurance isn't good for another eye exam until August. Unless this would fall under another catagory or something.Yes I already wear glasses for farsightedness

nurse mama ~!
HI! my Dr does! and its so previlent(sp)
in our family we were part of a study group.in the 80's they weren't sure what they were calling it, now they have a clinic in portland for it :)

It is common for people with FMS to have facial pain and pain throughout the temperomandibular joint distribution. Pain through the area around the eyes would not be unusual. Sensitivity to light, sound, and odors are also common in people with FMS.

This is not to say it is not another issue. However, there is the possibility that they may be related.

It would be impossible to assess this over a computer, but your FMS provider could tell you whether an ophthalmic referral is related to the FMS or is likely to be unrelated.

Good Luck!

You should go see your regular Medical doc first.
I would think you would need to see an Ophthalmologist for this. I had some issues with my eyes beyond needing glass and contacts and my Optometrist sent me to an Ophthalmologist. After my issue resolved, I started going back to the Optometrist again.
Be warned: Many docs do not consider fibromyalgia to be a disease or disorder. You may have to go to more than one who would even consider the possibility, but I would go. You shouldn't risk your sight.
Good luck and best wishes.
