What wears your eyesight down? |
I'm not looking for answers like astigmatism, or farsightedness stuff. I'm looking for answers that say what can wear down your eyesight like looking at the computer in the dark for too long. Is there any thing like that that can wear or worsen eyesight. Cuz I have glasses that I wear when I read or go on the computer, but what would cause that and what causes other eye sight problems? I've never been pregnant and I dont have diabetes. There are diseases that cause changes in eye sight like diabetes. Pregnancy can also change eyesight. My eyes always hurt if I wear scratched sunglasses, if my windshield in the car is dirty and I drive for a long time, if I stay on the computer too long, or if I'm getting a migraine. A large part of your visual capability is hereditary, and a some loss of visual acuity with age is natural. Reading or using a computer for prolonged periods in unfavorable conditions can cause eyestrain and other temporary problems, but studies have found no permanent effects. The thing you can control is your eye strain. You can combat this by wearing your glasses when you need them- of coarse, but also having the light souse come from behind you, so it doesn't bounce, or rather, reflect in your eyes. No glare coatings on your lenses will help, and if you are on your computer and it shines glare, you can purchase an anti-glare screen. Also, take breaks from reading after every hour, just for a few minutes. These are the things our resident doctor preaches. Good Luck! Genetic to begin with- Television, Computer for hours upon end, and AGE. |
