Full set false teeth / dentures vs partials?

My boyfriend needs lots of dental work. Rather than fuss thru out the years and get his bridges reworked, he is thinking of getting all his teeth out for a full set of dentures. One dentist seemed to indicate that it's better to have some teeth for bridges to grip on.
Does anyone here find full dentures much better than fussing with partials?

You know I have never answered anything on the Internet until now.

I am now 46 years of age, but I also had very bad teeth and also a car accident at age 16. I had all ALL my teeth removed. THE WORST MISTAKE OF MY LIFE. You absolutely need something in your mouth to anchor.

Especially the bottom teeth. Most people's gums shrink very quickly and there is absolutely nothing for them to hold onto.

My teeth have been floating all my life.

So please, take my advice, the top plate is pretty snug and good but the bottom, leave something there!

Good luck.

I feel your pain too. I think tooth pain is one of the most frustrating pain there is.

this is a matter of personal opinion. Some people will say it is better to keep a few of your real teeth. Other don't want to be bothered with a partial and go for a full set of dentures

welll it is a matter of the amount of healthy teeth/densures are very difficult

If all of his teeth do not need to be removed, then why remove them?

A partial denture will be ideal if he has other teeth to support it and good bone density. Once he has his 'lots of dental work' done, make sure he goes back every six months for routine checkups.

Also, if another tooth needs to be extracted in the future, another tooth can be added to his existing partial denture.

Best of luck to both of you~
