Fainting!!!?

Hot flashes!?
i am in choir and im 15. everyday i go on the risers i get dizzy and hot. while i sing, i get these flashes of hotness that last for ten seconds and go on and on. then my face turns beat red and people stare at me. then i get dizzy. what if i faint? please help! whenever i think about it, it happens. it even happens when i don't. what should i do? i eat breakfast and i bend my knees slightly. i heard that is supposed to help. how can i prevent getting hot? i wear a skirt and a short sleeved shirt on the stage and everyone else is cold when they are wearing sweat shirts. this happens everyday i go to choir. now i have to miss school tomorrow because i am afraid of fainting. there is about two weeks left of this stuff. and im on the top row and there's no back thing you can lean on. i have been whinning to all of my friends and they tell me to shut up and stop crying. now i have no friends. now i have to miss school everyday and faint. the teacher won't let me move. what if i faint?

First of all...just relax a bit. You are not going to faint. What could be happening is that you are experiencing some anxiety when you get up on the riser to sing. Almost like a stage fright. Since this happened to you, your body is now going into an anxiety mode and your fear system is on high. If f these seems like the case, then just calm down, and realize that you are up there with a bunch of people and you are going to be fine. Take some deep breaths, smile...and boost your confidence in your head. Once you start singing and focusing on that...you will not dwell on the "fainting". I had stage fright fo many years when I did plays...I use to imagine myself fainting right when I got on stage. I worried about it all day. But I never passed out...not once. I am still nervous at times, but that natural. I do the things I suggested to you, and it is much better now. Do not start missing school. Do not let that fear take over you...you will be fine. I hope this helps. Now go sing.

It sounds to me like you may possibly have Vertigo! My 10 yr old son suffers from it too and its really a pain in the a$$!! Talk to your parents about what you are experiencing... they CAN and WILL help!! There are medications you can take as well as those bracelets with the magnets that you can wear that will make you feel a LOT better!! My son finds that if he stands up quickly or stretches by putting his hands over his head that the dizzyness and fainting becomes worse!!

If not vertigo then it may be that you are suffering from anxiety and/or panic attacks and the more you worry about it, the more likely it is that it will get worse!! Again... talk to your parents! Let them know that this is REALLY bothering you and its NOT because you are just trying to get attention! MAKE THEM LISTEN TO YOU!! They will then know the next steps that you should take and will probably take you to the doctor! They will ALSO help you w/ your teacher by explaining to them that this IS a medical condition and that you NEED to move so that you arent worried about passing out in front of everyone!!

I hope that you get better soon and find out what is really going on!! Take care!
