Is Fainting Okay When You Excersise?

I have a friend who says that when you excersise it is okay to faint because it relaxes the body. From what I know, fainting occurs because of lack of oxygen to the brain so how does fainting when you excersise relax the body?

Haha, you know what? You should tell that friend to go back to elementary school, and maybe slap him or her a few times and refer him or her to this page; Fainting is anything but good, its what a body does in cases of extreme physical exhaustion (and mental... in some cases) and lack of oxygen and blood flow to the brain as mentioned before. Start worrying about this friend of yours, he or she's obviously not on the logic side. A few things you can do to avoid it, though, is not over do it, take breaks from now and then and discontinue excercise for the day when starting to feel dizzy or nausious. Now, refer away!

you need to find new friends. fainting doing anything is bad. you are correct. it is lack of oxygen to the brain. does that sound like a relaxing thing to you?

No. It's not "okay." Really, all loss of consciousness should be evaluated. It's not always due to something ominous--often, it means something simple, like you need to eat. But it's something your doctor needs to evaluate.

NO!!! Obviously he/she is doing something wrong!! Do they drink water and breathe correctly while exercising? That is not good at all!!

it doesn't, by definition fainting is a temporary loss of consciousness caused by restricted blood flow to the brain. If someone faints while exercising they are over doing it and no it doesn't relax the body.

It sure as heck doesn't sound appealing.

And I highly doubt that it relaxes anything. Especially the people around you. Plus, you have the risk of hitting your head on something sharp and permanately injuring yourself.

If your friend wants to risk her health, that's up to her. But you should be smart enough to figure this one out for yourself.

fainting is NEVER ok.

Fainting is NOT ok! so ur friend is SO wrong, if you need to relax ur body then walk to cool off after working out and drink LOTS of water to avoid dehydration.

You've got to be kidding! No, fainting is not allowed, and your friend is getting some very wrong information somewhere! Fainting is not a good sign, whether exercising or not.

No, fainting is not okay. Ever. So far as I know, someone would faint after exercise if they were exercising too hard and not consuming enough water and calories. This just screams eating disorder to me.
